Do you like international relations and beer? Well then mark your calendars for the 16th of January, because that’s the day when Historicie Committee is hosting its super cool academic lecture event!
There is going to be free beer and two lectures given by Utrecht University’s very own prof.dr.Jacco Pekelder and dr.Peter Malcontent on the topic of the history of international relations, especially for first year students considering the specialisation tracks of international relations will find this event not just fun, but also extremely insightful!

20:00-20:30: Lecture by dr.Peter Malcontent on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict as a case study of international relations in historical perspective in action.

Disclaimer: The spots are limited so if you are keen on participating please sign up in the UHSK chamber in order to confirm your attendance and reserve your spot as otherwise you might not able to attend the event if too many keen people show up. Also, please be on time or ideally 5 minutes early as once the lecture commences, no one will be permitted to enter the auditorium in order to avoid disturbances of the event.
Wednesday 7 December will be the launch of the first UHSK-Survey. Via e-mail we will send you a personalised link. It will take ten minutes of your time to fill out the survey and will contain questions about the committees, the General Meeting Counsil, activities and the board. Commissioned by the executive board of Utrecht University, the Utrechtse Historische Studentenkring annually organises a Holocaust memorial day. In 2017, this day will take place on the 20th of January in the Academy building of Utrecht University. The programme of the day will consist of four lectures and a discussion round. The overarching theme is the role that societal institutions (may) have played during the Holocaust. After an introductory lecture by prof. dr. Peter Romijn from the NIOD, three case studies will be explored; dr. Regina Grüter (NIOD) will speak about the Dutch Red Cross during the Second World War, legal philosopher dr. mr. Derk Venema (Radboud University Nijmgegen) will delve into Dutch legal institutions during World War Two, and prof. dr. Leen Dorsman will discuss Utrecht University during the Holocaust. Everybody is welcome, entrance is free, and lunch and drinks afterwards will be taken care of. Lectures will be held in English.
